THE JAPANESE GOLD MEGA RAYQUAZA EX LAST SOLD FOR $429.99 AND THE ENGLISH CARD HAS NO PRICE YET
TL;DR: WAIT on the English Mega Rayquaza ex chase cards. Skip the prerelease and release week copies. The Japanese gold card shows an $827 tracker price but last sold for $429.99 on October 21, 2026, and every Mega Evolution chase card before it fell after release. Prices observed October 23, 2026.
The Numbers Behind This Call
- English Mega Rayquaza ex, Delta Reign: no single listed or sold on TCGplayer or PriceCharting as of October 23, 2026. Only the 084/103 Double Rare is confirmed. Prereleases run October 24 to November 1, 2026 and the set releases November 6, 2026, per PokeBeach.
- Japanese Mega Rayquaza ex, Storm Emeralda 113/076, Mega Ultra Rare (gold), raw, Near Mint: $826.67 TCGplayer Market in the week of October 12, 2026 and $747.33 in the week of October 19. Last two TCGplayer sales $470.00 (October 18) and $429.99 (October 21).
- Same gold card on eBay: nine raw sales from October 9 to 21, 2026, $385.00 to $500.00, median $410.00, per the PriceCharting sales log.
- Japanese Mega Rayquaza ex, Storm Emeralda 110/076, Special Art Rare, raw, Near Mint: $272.47 TCGplayer Market in the week of October 19, 2026, down 61.7 percent from $711.37 in the week of August 3, 2026.
- Mega Greninja ex, Chaos Rising 116/086, Special Illustration Rare, raw, Near Mint: $456.75 TCGplayer Market in the week of May 25, 2026, its first full week, and $115.76 in the week of October 19, 2026.
The Mega Rayquaza ex Delta Reign price does not exist yet. The card is the headliner of Mega Evolution: Delta Reign, prereleases start October 24, 2026, and not one English copy of its chase cards had sold on TCGplayer or PriceCharting as of October 23. The only number floating around is the Japanese one.
That Japanese number is the problem. TCGplayer’s average showed $826.67 for the Japanese gold card from October 18 to 20, 2026, the $827 everyone is quoting, but it last sold for $429.99 on October 21. Every Mega chase card before this one dropped after its English release. My call is WAIT, and I am not buying a prerelease copy.

Pulling Rayquaza at prerelease this weekend? Write to the editor with what you hit and what you were offered for it, and I will tell you how I would play it.
The English Card Has No Price Yet
Delta Reign releases November 6, 2026, and prerelease events run October 24 to November 1. It adapts the Japanese set Storm Emeralda, which came out July 31, 2026. The two sets do not share numbers, so a Japanese price is never an English price.
The only English number confirmed is the regular 084/103 Double Rare. The set has six Special Illustration Rares and Rayquaza is almost certainly one of them, but the English SIR number and any gold Mega Hyper Rare have not been officially shown. TCGplayer lists 21 Delta Reign products today, and every one of them is sealed. The first English sales should start this weekend as prerelease pulls hit the market.
The $827 Japanese Gold Is a Stale Average
Here is where the $827 comes from. The Japanese 113/076 Mega Ultra Rare showed a TCGplayer Market Price of $826.67 in the week of October 12, 2026. That average sat at $945.56 for three straight weeks with zero sales, then came down only as new sales printed. TCGplayer recorded just five Near Mint sales in 90 days.
The real sales tell a different story. The last two sold for $470.00 on October 18 and $429.99 on October 21. On eBay, nine raw copies sold from October 9 to 21, 2026 for $385.00 to $500.00, with a median of $410.00. So the gold card trades about 45 percent under the tracker number everyone is quoting.
The Japanese Special Art Rare is the cleaner read because it trades. The 110/076 read $711.37 in the week of August 3, 2026, its first full week, and $272.47 in the week of October 19. That is down 61.7 percent, and it closed lower 12 weeks in a row. The $279 being passed around was real on October 20. It is already lower.
Every Mega Chase Card Fell After Release
I pulled the English chase cards from four Mega Evolution sets: the Special Illustration Rare and the gold Mega Hyper Rare of each headliner. That is Mega Charizard X ex from Phantasmal Flames, Mega Zygarde ex 120 from Perfect Order, Mega Greninja ex 116 from Chaos Rising and Mega Darkrai ex 116 from Pitch Black. Eight cards, all TCGplayer Near Mint weekly closes.
All eight closed lower five weeks after their first full week of release. The drops ran from 10.7 to 40.4 percent. The Mega Greninja ex SIR went from $456.75 in the week of May 25, 2026 to $272.25 five weeks later, and it sat at $115.76 in the week of October 19. That is down 74.7 percent.
The first prints were the worst prices to pay. The Mega Charizard X ex 125/094 SIR first traded at a $781.05 weekly Market in the week of November 10, 2025, before release. One week later it was $578.87, down 25.9 percent. If you buy a Mega Rayquaza ex this weekend, you are buying in that first week.
I already told you not to chase Delta Reign presale prices in my Delta Reign ETB call, and the sealed side has followed. The standard Elite Trainer Box read $133.17 on TCGplayer on October 1, 2026 and $106.20 on October 23. I expect the singles to follow the same path.
How much will the English Mega Rayquaza ex sell for?
Nobody knows yet, and the Japanese card will not tell you. In these four sets the English gold opened at 42 to 95 percent of the Japanese gold in the same week. The English SIR opened anywhere from 90 percent to 2.8 times the Japanese SAR. There is no fixed ratio, so there is no shortcut.
Here is the number nobody else is printing. Across all eight cards, seven of eight are 35.8 to 74.7 percent below their first full week today. The only one that held is the Mega Charizard X ex 125/094 SIR, up 4.0 percent at $602.24 in the week of October 19, 2026. So the first English Mega Rayquaza ex sales will show you the top of the range, not the price.
That is also where I have been all along on this card. I said do NOT buy it until mid 2027. I expect it to open high, drop for weeks after release and then find a floor. The prerelease weekend is the opposite of a buying window.
The Risk in Waiting
The risk is a Charizard path. Rayquaza has one of the deepest fan bases in the hobby, the same kind that kept the Mega Charizard X ex SIR at its release level. If the English Mega Rayquaza ex behaves like Charizard and not like Greninja, a long wait costs me the entry.
There is a second reason the drop could be smaller this time. The Japanese set came out 98 days before the English one, against 49 to 70 days for the four sets I compared. A lot of the hype has already burned off in Japan. It does not change the direction in any set I checked, so the WAIT carries an exit instead of a blind date.

Rayquaza Is a WAIT Until Two Higher Weekly Closes After Release
My position on the English Rayquaza chase cards, the Special Illustration Rare and the gold card, is WAIT. Do not buy a prerelease copy, and do not buy in release week. If nothing changes, I am holding off until mid 2027. If you already own the Japanese copies, hold them, but I would not add while the 110/076 keeps closing lower every week.
One thing ends the WAIT early. Two straight higher weekly TCGplayer Near Mint closes for the English card, counted from the week of November 9, 2026, the first full week after release. The earliest that can happen is the close of the week of November 23. Bring your prerelease pulls and dated sales to our Facebook page and I will run them.
