SURFING PIKACHU PRICE CHECK: THE RISING RIVALS SECRET RARE IS A BUY IN HALVES, PRICED OFF REAL SALES
TL;DR: The Surfing Pikachu price on TCGplayer reads $427.62 for a raw Near Mint Rising Rivals 114/111, up 10.0 percent in 30 days. Played copies climbed all year on real sales. My call: BUY gradable Near Mint in halves, one at $400 or less now and one at $355.24 or less. Prices observed October 30, 2026.
The Numbers Behind This Call
- Surfing Pikachu, Rising Rivals 114/111, secret rare, raw Near Mint: $427.62 TCGplayer Market Price on October 30, 2026, up 10.0 percent from $388.58 on September 30 and 20.4 percent from $355.24 in the week of July 27.
- Same card, the last four Near Mint sales on TCGplayer: $115.00 (November 29, 2025), $310.50 (April 28, 2026), $399.99 (July 24, 2026), $455.25 (September 4, 2026). None since.
- Same card, Lightly Played on TCGplayer: $85.00 in the week of November 24, 2025, $234.97 on October 11, 2026.
- Same card, raw on eBay, all conditions: $227.77 median on twelve October 2026 sales, per PriceCharting on October 30, 2026.

- Moltres, Supreme Victors 149/147, secret rare, raw Near Mint: $387.85 TCGplayer Market Price on October 30, 2026, lifted by one $689.97 Near Mint sale in the week of September 7.
The Surfing Pikachu price just stepped up again. The Rising Rivals secret rare, Surfing Pikachu 114/111 from May 2009, reads $427.62 on the TCGplayer Near Mint Market as of October 30, 2026. It sits third on our BUY signals list, updated October 29, up 10.0 percent in 30 days and 20 percent in 90.
Out of print, Pikachu, and a slow climb instead of a spike. That is exactly the kind of single I hold. Before calling it, I checked whether $427.62 is a real raw Near Mint price and whether the climb shows up in actual sales.
It does, with one catch I will show you. I am BUYING gradable Near Mint copies in halves, and pricing both halves off sales, not off the Market.

The $427.62 Is Real Near Mint, but No Copy Sold There Yet
First the good news. The $427.62 on our signals page is TCGplayer’s Market for the English Near Mint holo, product 89644. It is not a blend of graded and played copies.
Now the catch. The Market moved from $388.58 to $427.62 on October 26, 2026, and no Near Mint copy sold on TCGplayer that day. The last Near Mint sale was $455.25 on September 4. That is why I will not pay $427.62 just because the screen says it.
Look at the four Near Mint sales TCGplayer logged over the last twelve months: $115.00 on November 29, 2025, then $310.50 on April 28, 2026, $399.99 on July 24 and $455.25 on September 4. Every one was higher than the one before. Four sales a year is thin… but it is four steps in one direction.

Played Copies Prove the Climb Is Steady
When Near Mint barely trades, I look at the copies that do. The played tape is where this card shows its hand.
Lightly Played Surfing Pikachu copies sold twelve times on TCGplayer in the last year. The five sales from November 2025 to February 2026 had a median of $99.99. The four from August to October 2026 ran $148.21 to $239.92, and the newest sold for $234.97 on October 11. The Lightly Played Market went from $51.69 in the week of November 3, 2025 to $181.42 on October 30, 2026.
It is the same story further down. Moderately Played copies sold for $59.99 and $60.99 in the week of January 19 and for $179.99 on October 14. Damaged copies sold for $69.99 to $83.82 in October, against a $25.02 Market in January. No single sale did that. Buyers kept paying more at every condition, month after month.
That is the slow climb this call is built on, and it holds up. The Surfing Pikachu price did not spike in October. It has been grinding higher since last November.
eBay Shows How Much Condition Matters
Raw copies on eBay sold twelve times in October 2026, from $65.00 to $330.99, for a median of $227.77, per PriceCharting. Most of those listings were titled played, or gave no condition at all.
That spread is the whole point. A whitened, scratched copy is a $130 card. A clean one with a sharp holo is a $400 card. One October 18 sale at $375.00 carried “PSA Near Mint” in its title, so I set it aside as possibly graded.
Make sure you are buying the right card, too. Rising Rivals has three secret rare Pikachu cards. Flying Pikachu 113/111 is the cheaper sibling at a $99.82 PriceCharting ungraded value on October 30, 2026. The 1999 Surfing Pikachu promo is a different card altogether.
Is Surfing Pikachu 114 a good investment right now?
Yes, bought gradable and bought in halves. As of October 30, 2026, the Surfing Pikachu price has risen in Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played and Damaged sales over twelve months. Only the newest Near Mint Market step lacks a sale under it, so the buy levels come off the sales.
Here is what the signals page alone will not tell you. Our number matches TCGplayer to the cent, and the last $39.04 of it moved with no Near Mint copy changing hands. The climb is still real, because every played grade doubled or tripled on actual sales. Nobody else is splitting those two things apart for you.
The grading math supports it. PriceCharting put a PSA 7 at $400.00 and a PSA 8 at $906.70 on October 30, 2026. A PSA 9 reads $2,095.00 and a PSA 10 reads $3,468.21. A raw Near Mint copy near $400 costs what a PSA 7 is worth, so a clean copy has room to grade into.
It fits the out of print split we have called since September. In our look at HeartGold SoulSilver holos on October 29, the old cards with real sales kept climbing while new product slid. In our October 19 scan, 170 of 244 liquid cards from $50 to $800 fell on TCGplayer in one week.
Why I Am Not Pairing It With Moltres 149
I wanted to pair Surfing Pikachu with a Supreme Victors secret rare as one Platinum era call. I checked Moltres 149/147, fourth on our BUY list. It does not hold up.
Its $387.85 TCGplayer Near Mint Market rests on one $689.97 sale in the week of September 7, 2026. The Near Mint copy before it sold for $223.59 on September 4. On eBay, raw Moltres copies sold for $81.00 to $199.99 in October, and PriceCharting values it $142.24 ungraded. One sale built that Market. Stay away until more copies trade.
How I Am Buying It
Half now, half on a pullback. The first copy at $400 or less sits under the $427.62 Market and between the last two Near Mint sales of $399.99 and $455.25. If you can get in around $400, I like it as a long term hold.
The second copy waits for $355.24 or less. That was the weekly Near Mint close TCGplayer held from July 20 to August 30, 2026, before the $455.25 sale. If the price never comes back, you still own half a position in a card that has climbed in every condition.
Buy only listings with clear photos of the front, back and all four corners. 2009 holos whiten on the back edges and scratch on the foil, and a played copy will not grade. Do not pay a swirl premium unless you collect swirls.
I fully expect the Surfing Pikachu price to keep climbing over the next 3 years. Pikachu, a secret rare, and a set that has been out of print for more than 17 years is a very short list. I would also grade it, but that is just me.

I Am Buying Surfing Pikachu 114 in Halves at $400 and $355.24
My call is BUY on gradable Near Mint Surfing Pikachu 114/111. One copy now at $400 or less, and the second at $355.24 or less, the weekly Near Mint close from July 20 to August 30, 2026. This is a three year plus hold. A Near Mint sale on TCGplayer under $310.50, or two straight Lightly Played sales under $148.21, stops the second half and turns the first into a HOLD.
The risk is the thin tape. Four Near Mint sales a year means the Market can step with no sale behind it, which is exactly why I price off sales. I will post the moment a new Near Mint copy sells on our Facebook page.
