The Umbreon Breakout
There’s no burying the lede here. Umbreon ex is the story of the week, and frankly, it’s been the story of Prismatic Evolutions since the set launched.
The card bottomed out around $799 on New Year’s Eve before staging an aggressive recovery. That $155 swing in less than a week suggests demand never truly softened. Buyers were simply waiting for post-holiday prices to settle before pulling the trigger. Now they’re competing for limited supply.
What makes Umbreon’s movement particularly notable is the contrast with its Eeveelution siblings. Sylveon ex, Leafeon ex, and Espeon ex all held remarkably steady this week, moving less than one percent in either direction. These cards appear to have found their floor, at least for now.
For collectors weighing their options, this spread tells an important story. Umbreon commands roughly triple what Espeon fetches. The dark-type Eeveelution has always enjoyed premium status among fans, but that gap is widening rather than closing.
Charizard Finds Its Footing

Mega Charizard X ex from Phantasmal Flames quietly posted solid gains this week, climbing 4.57% to $518. The card had dipped as low as $393 around Christmas Eve, making this recovery even more impressive when viewed over a longer timeframe.
Charizard cards carry their own gravitational pull in this market. When prices dip, buyers tend to step in quickly. That dynamic played out again over the past two weeks.
Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex from Destined Rivals followed a similar pattern, gaining 3.29% to reach $413. The villain-themed card has maintained steady interest since Destined Rivals launched, and it appears to be settling into a comfortable range above the $400 mark.
Black Bolt and White Flare Show Stability

The Black Bolt and White Flare sets present an interesting case study in market maturation. Victini from White Flare held perfectly flat at $405.75. Its Black Bolt counterpart slipped less than one percent to $393. Zekrom ex and Reshiram ex both experienced minor corrections under two percent.
This stability is actually encouraging for current holders. After months of price discovery, the market appears to have reached consensus on their value.
Where Caution Is Warranted
Not every card fared well. Mega Lucario ex from Mega Evolution dropped 4.42%, falling from $323 to just under $309. The card has been sliding since hitting $394 in mid-December.
Pikachu ex from Surging Sparks also pulled back nearly three percent to $254. It’s worth watching whether this decline continues or if buyers step in at the $250 level.
What Buyers Should Consider
The post-holiday buying window may already be closing for Prismatic Evolutions, judging by Umbreon’s explosive week. The stable Eeveelutions might offer better entry points than chasing Umbreon at current levels. Sylveon, Leafeon, and Espeon have all demonstrated price stability and remain more accessible.
January typically brings renewed collector activity as holiday cash gets deployed. If Umbreon’s performance is any indication, demand for premium Pokémon cards remains healthy heading into 2026.
