GRADED CARD REPORTS

Journey Together’s PSA 10 Market: Where Character Popularity Trumps Artwork

The Pokémon TCG’s Journey Together set, released in March 2025, features popular Trainer’s Pokémon and has seen about 167,000 graded cards, with a 33% Gem Mint rate. Special Illustration Rares hold significant value, while savvy collectors should focus on Illustration Rares for impressive multipliers. Character popularity drives market demand.

The Pokémon TCG’s Journey Together set has been out for nine months now, and the grading data tells a fascinating story about what collectors actually value. Released in late March 2025, this 190-card set brought back the beloved Trainer’s Pokémon mechanic, pairing iconic characters like N, Lillie, Iono, and Hop with their signature partners. As PSA submissions have matured and populations have stabilized, clear patterns have emerged about where the smart money should go.

The Numbers Behind the Set

PSA has now graded roughly 167,000 cards from Journey Together, with about 56,000 achieving that coveted Gem Mint 10 status. That works out to a 33% gem rate, which is pretty standard for modern Pokémon releases.

Special Illustration Rares: The Premium Tier

The six Special Illustration Rares represent the cream of this set, with PSA 10 premiums ranging from 3x to over 5x raw prices:

Card #Card NamePSA 10 PopPSA 10 PriceRaw PriceMultiplier
184Lillie’s Clefairy ex SIR3,789$370–$500$1373.1x
187Salamence ex SIR3,042$271–$296$624.5x
185N’s Zoroark ex SIR2,363$174–$183$533.4x
183Iono’s Bellibolt ex SIR2,005$160–$350$404.5x
186Hop’s Zacian ex SIR1,932$131–$160$304.7x
182Volcanion ex SIR972$94–$115$195.3x

Lillie’s Clefairy ex holds its premium because of Lillie’s enduring popularity from Pokémon Sun and Moon. PSA 9 copies have been selling between $107 and $153, while even PSA 8 grades fetched $125 in early December. That’s a remarkably strong floor for a card seeing zero competitive play.

The Salamence ex at $271 with a population of 1,164 might actually be the smarter buy than the Lillie. Similar population counts, but significantly more room for appreciation down the road.

The Hidden Gems: Illustration Rares

This is where savvy collectors should focus. The eleven Illustration Rares feature gorgeous full-bleed artwork, and the PSA 10 multipliers are frankly absurd:

Card #Card NamePSA 10 PopPSA 10 PriceRaw PriceMultiplier
161Articuno IR6,667$132–$250$16.5010x
167N’s Reshiram IR4,204$161$1510.7x
167N’s Reshiram IR (Stamped)6,057$192$267.4x
162Wailord IR5,500$117$139x
164Lillie’s Ribombee IR1,905$80$5.3315x
169Noibat IR1,183$68–$85$3.3322x
170Hop’s Wooloo IR924$66$3.9017x
168Furret IR1,394$65$4.9813x
163Iono’s Kilowattrel IR2,432$60$4.7512.6x
165Swinub IR633$54$2.9918x
166Lycanroc IR901$51$3.2415.7x
160Maractus IR516$39$3.1212.5x

Noibat jumps from $3.33 raw to $68–$85 in PSA 10. Swinub moves from $2.99 to $54. At current grading costs of $20–30, the math works strongly in your favor if you’re sitting on minty copies.

The N’s Reshiram Stamped variant—exclusive to Enhanced Booster Box toppers—commands a $30 premium over the standard version despite similar populations. Collectors will pay extra for that promo stamp.

Ultra Rares and Full Arts: Know Your Targets

The Full Art Ultra Rares and Double Rares show more modest premiums, typically 5–8x raw prices. Here’s the complete breakdown:

174Mamoswine ex FA$45$1.71Full Art
30Reshiram ex$40$3.50Double Rare
176Hop’s Zacian ex FA$40$3.07Full Art

The Hop’s Snorlax GameStop Promo at $310 represents an outlier—this limited retail exclusive commands a 15x multiplier over the standard version due to extreme scarcity.

Strategic Takeaways

Journey Together’s market rewards character popularity over competitive playability. Lillie, N, and Iono cards command substantial premiums, while technically stronger cards like Mamoswine ex languish at $45.

The Illustration Rare tier offers the best risk-adjusted returns. Cards like Noibat and Swinub deliver 18–22x multipliers when grading successfully. For Special Illustration Rares, the Salamence ex presents better value than the Lillie’s Clefairy ex—similar population, more upside remaining.

With populations still climbing through early 2026, expect prices to stabilize or decline slightly as supply increases. Patient buyers will find opportunities.
