Top 15 Pokémon TCG Cards With the Biggest Price Drops This Week

The Pokémon TCG market is currently experiencing a correction, with some Mega Evolution cards dropping up to 50% from their peaks. Factors include an oversupply of cards and the recent release of Phantasmal Flames. Buyers may find opportunities with recovering prices, while sellers are advised to hold.

The Pokemon TCG market is going through a correction phase, and collectors paying attention could find some solid buying opportunities. Cards from the Mega Evolution base set are leading the decline, with some dropping as much as 50% from their post-launch peaks.

Here’s what you need to know before making your next move.

What’s Driving the Drop?

Several forces are pushing prices down across modern Pokemon singles.

The Pokemon Company printed over 10 billion cards between March 2024 and March 2025. That flood of product has reduced scarcity premiums on chase cards that once commanded top dollar.

The November 14 release of Phantasmal Flames also shifted collector attention away from Mega Evolution, which dropped just two months prior. Phantasmal Flames booster boxes fell $30 in just ten days, the fastest decline in over a year.

Meanwhile, Wave 2 and Wave 3 restocks at major retailers have pushed sealed product toward MSRP, cutting into the incentive for pack-cracking and dumping more raw cards onto the secondary market.

Analysts describe this 15-20% average decline as a healthy correction rather than a crash. For buyers, that means potential entry points on cards that were overheated a month ago.

The 15 Biggest Drops

All prices below reflect TCGPlayer Near Mint market prices based on actual sales data over roughly the past 7-21 days.

Cards Worth Watching

Mega Lucario ex Mega Hyper Rare remains the set’s top chase card despite dropping 23%. With brutal 1-in-1,260 pull rates and only two Mega Hyper Rare gold cards in the English set, it still commands $470. If you’ve been waiting to pick one up, this correction might be your window.

Charizard ex SIR from 151 took the biggest hit in its set at nearly 20%. The famous “Charizard premium” is being tested as the market cools from 2024-2025 speculation peaks. Whether it holds or drops further could signal where vintage-style modern cards are headed.

What Buyers Should Consider

Trainer Supporter cards like Lillie’s Determination historically cool faster than Pokemon cards after set releases. If you’re collecting for the artwork, patience typically pays off with these.

Venusaur continues to trail Charizard and Blastoise among original Kanto starters. It’s consistently the least popular of the three, which affects value retention.

Paradox Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet have cooled after their initial excitement. Heavy restocking of Prismatic Evolutions, with ETBs dropping from $400 scalper prices to $110, has pressured singles across the board.

The Bottom Line

This correction follows a 42% surge in Sword and Shield era cards from October 2024 through January 2025. Those inflated values are now normalizing.

For collectors looking to buy, the next few weeks could offer attractive entry points, particularly on Mega Evolution chase cards that may have bottomed out. For sellers, holding through the correction might make sense if you’re not in a rush.

As always, buy what you love and can afford to hold. The market will keep moving either way.
