Grading math

A PSA 10 sells for 57.9x the raw price. A PSA 9 sells for $155.07, 6.6x raw.

Even a PSA 9 ($155.07) sells for more than a raw copy plus $39.99 to grade it (PSA Value, for cards valued up to $500) ($63.59 total), so grading pays if your copy is clean enough for a 9; a PSA 10 is upside on top. For vintage cards, a 9 or 10 is the hard part: most raw copies grade lower, so judge centering, edges and surface before you send one in. This is a rough guide, not a guarantee.
